Our communities are part of the 5% of the country that the UK Government recognises will not be able to get BT Superfast Fibre Broadband.
Lawkland Parish has been approached by Clapham Hyperfast Fibre broadband to see if there is interest and potential to extend the scheme into Lawkland, Eldroth and neighbouring hamlets and outlying parts of Austwick.
The Parish called a meeting at the beginning of February 2015 to bring together local people interested in having Fibre Broadband to see if there is sufficient interest to consider creating a local Hyperfast Fibre Broadband Group.
Over 50 people from across the area attended the meeting and signed up to find out more. They heard from Simon Peach of Clapham Hyperfast Broadband how that area is linking up with B4RN (Broadband for Northern England) to bring the service to the Clapham area. Representatives of Austwick Community Broadband Association spoke in favour of investigating the potential of the LEWFA scheme further.
The next meeting is planned for April at Eldroth Parish Hall. Please keep in touch to find out more.
